Summer Newsletter 2022

Cork City Sports:

We were delighted to get the chance to compete in the Cork City sports again this year on June 3rd. Everyone had a great day and I would like to thank Ms. Thompson for her dedication and time in training everyone who competed.

Active Week

We held a very enjoyable active week from June 13th-17th. We had an action-packed week of tennis, yoga, dance, athletics as well as well as our very popular sports day. I would also like to thank the Board of Management who kindly arranged for an ice-cream van to visit the school on the Friday.

Afterschool

We are delighted to announce that we will be offering an afterschool service in the school from September. This will be run by Tina and we would ask that you contact her if you any queries or wish to sign up for the coming academic year.  

School Tours

The school went on two very enjoyable school tours this year. Our 3rd-6th class went to Ballyhass Adventure centre and had a brilliant time. Our Juniors – 2nd class went to Let’s Go in Mallow and had a memorable day.

School Reports:

The end of year school reports have been completed by the staff and are available on Aladdin.

Book fair

We held a very successful Book Fair in association with Scholastic from the 3rd to the 6th May. We received €603 in book vouchers based on the amount of money spent on books. We also ran a Bargain Books fundraiser and raised €243 for the school through this.

French lessons

French lessons have started since April 25th and will conclude on June 20th for 3rd and 4th class. These proved very popular earlier in the year and the cost of 600€ has been covered by the Parents Association

Graduation

The whole school would like to congratulate the 6th class on their Graduation from primary school. They are fantastic young people and we wish them every success in the coming years and look forward to seeing what their future holds.

School website

The school website is in the final stages of completion and will be live for September. We are very excited about it and we hope that it will the main source of information on all school news and activities in the future.

End of year concert

We held our end of year concert on Thursday 16th of June. The children put in a fantastic effort all year to prepare themselves and gave brilliant performances on the day. The whole school would like to thank Lisa for her expertise and time in preparing the children for the concert. It was also great to see such a great number of the children’s family members be able to attend.

School Communion:

The communion was held on Saturday May 14th. Eight children received the sacrament. I would like to thank Mr. Murphy and Helen O’Leary for their hard work in preparing the children so well. The parent’s association also kindly arranged a gift bag for each child, which they collected outside the church.

I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and co-operation since I have started working in the school. I hope that you all have a very enjoyable summer and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 30th August.
