PARTNERSHIPS
Active Schools Committee
Our active schools committee is made up of two members for each class. Our members are Caoimhe, Adam, Denis, Harper Kate, Conor, Kyle, Lauren and Eve. They are working tirelessly trying to keep our school fit and healthy. They attend regular meetings and discuss different ways that we can keep our school fit and healthy. They recently held a competition to come up with the best slogan for our Active School. Each class came up with super ideas, and we are very proud of their participation. Our slogan is now “Be Fitter, Feel Better”. We also designed this superb slogan poster that is displayed throughout the school.

Rugby
Charleveille & District Rugby Club held their first Primary Schools Blitz. They welcomed 250 kids from Milford, Dromina, Charleville, Ballyhea and Newtownshandrum. Everyone had an enjoyable day and left wondering when the next blitz is on.
A special thanks to CCRO Aidan Sheehan who has been working with the school training the children. Ray Gadsden MunsterRugby Development Officer and his team of coaches who were also there to help out.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been working with Mikey Moran from Charleville Rugby who has taught our students basic rugby skills, teamwork and overall enjoyment. Thank you to Mikey for his knowledge and expertise.

Gymnastics
Each year, the children receive a 5-week gymnastics programme in our local hall with Mary from Fit4Life Gymnastics. Everyone enjoyed learning new skills and seeing new things that their body can do. The children were bending over backwards with enthusiasm!

GAA
Gaelic games play a key role in primary schools by promoting physical activity, teamwork, and a strong sense of community. Through programmes supported by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), children get the opportunity to learn skills in games like Gaelic football and hurling in a fun and inclusive environment. These activities help develop fundamental movement skills, confidence, and enjoyment of sport, while also connecting students with Irish culture and local clubs. We have welcomed a number of different coaches into our school who have shared their wealth of knowledge with our children.

Cork City Sports
This is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the school calendar each year. We have a very successful history in the event over many years. The event isheld in early June each year and schools from all over the country send their competitors to the race. We send children from all classes if they qualify in the trials. Itis an event that gives the children lasting memories if they are fortunate enough to qualify.

What clubs are you in?
A “What clubs are you in?” survey is a simple way for schools to learn about students’ involvement in activities both inside and outside of school. By asking pupils to list clubs such as sports teams, groups, or community organisations, teachers can gain a better understanding of participation levels and interests. This information can help identify gaps, promote new activities, and support initiatives like Active Schools by encouraging more students to get involved in physical activity and extracurricular opportunities.
